Fight Your Allergy Symptoms This Season

Along with spring and warm weather usually comes seasonal allergy symptoms. For all you allergy sufferers, you know how much this can affect your day to day.

You’ve probably tried the usual: over the counter anti-allergy meds, allergy shots, nasal spray and eye drops. But if you’re sick of these or are still sniffling, sneezing and having itchy eyes, try some of these home remedies:

Running

A recent study published by Men’s Health Magazine says that allergy sufferers who ran for 30 minutes had their sneezing, runny nose, nasal itching and congestion decreased by more than 70%. The cause of the relief was the decreased allergy-related inflammation from moderate exercise.

Showering

If you’ve recently spent time outdoors, pollen tends to collect in your hair and clothes. Wash hair thoroughly so that it doesn’t eventually fall into your eyes. This will also help avoid any build up on pillow cases.

Peppermint Tea

Hot tea is a great reliever of clogged up throats and noses, one of the best being peppermint tea. The essential oil of peppermint actually acts as a decongestant and is an anti-inflammatory.

To make peppermint tea:

  • Fill 2/3 of a jar with boiling water
  • Add 1/2 ounce dried peppermint leaves
  • Steam for 5 minutes
  • Let cool, strain and sweeten

Wash Your Pet

Frequently bathing your pet will help them from carrying allergens around all over the house. Even if they won’t stay still long enough to be scrubbed with soap, warm water makes quite the difference.

Do you suffer from allergies?

If you’ve been feeling miserable instead of excited for the warm weather, you are likely suffering from seasonal allergies. With allergy testing, you can know exactly what triggers your allergic reactions. This will also help ensure you to take proper medication, if necessary.
