Recent Increase in Hair Follicle Drug Testing

Hair sample analysis is a very accurate way to determine whether a person has used drugs sometime within the past few months. For those policies with a zero tolerance of drug use, this test is ideal. At ARCpoint Labs of Worcester, our window of detection is 90 days for hair follicle testing. Recently, hair analysis has become one of the most utilized methods of drug testing. This method is very attractive to individuals and employees who would like accurate results across a significant window of time.hair follicle drug testing

A hair analysis test is capable of detecting the small molecules that the body produces after a drug has been introduced to its system and entered into the bloodstream. Once a drug has entered your system and your bloodstream, it will show up in your hair as well. Drugs that are taken and not necessarily injected straight into the bloodstream (ie. marijuana), can even be detected through this method.

It is typically preferred for the hair sample to come from an individual’s scalp. When cut from the scalp, it should be about 1.5 inches long for best results. Only a small volume of hair is needed and, of course, we will take a hair sample from an obscure area. If the hair on the head is not an option, hair from other areas of the body may also be submitted. If a hair analysis can not be done from lack of hair, drug testing can also be done by testing urine, sweat, blood, saliva or fingernails.

Hair follicle test drug testing is a very accurate method for determining drug use. For more information on on-site and mobile hair drug testing or our Worcester Lab, call today at 774-314-9551.

This sounds like it would be the best form of testing for those that need a definite result on their drug test over a certain period of time.

I heard that hair testing isn’t always the best because it can read so far back that the person may not be an user anymore. Thoughts?
